Jide Owatunmise has been appointed as the Country Director (Nigeria) for Driving Schools and Safety Alliance Africa (DSSAA), a Continental Organisation with its headquarters in Gambia.
Before his appointment, Jide Owatunmise is the Chief Executive Officer of Professional Driving and Safety Academy, Director of Studies of the Institute of Driving Instructors of Nigeria and the Global Training Advisor in Driving Schools Association of Nigeria (DSAN). He’s the former National President of the Association of Driving Instructors of
Nigeria (ADIN) and National President of Driving School Association of Nigeria
(DSAN).
In comformity with the United Nations’ Resolution on inclusivity and gender balance, Ambassador Eunice Odeghe was also appointed as the Deputy Country Director (Nigeria). Before her appointment, she’s the Founder and President of the Female Drivers Association of Nigeria (FEDAN). She is a Social Worker, Trainer, and Philanthropist.
Driving Schools and Safety Alliance Africa – DSSAA is Africa’s premier Professional Association of Policy Makers in Transportation and Road Safety, Driving School Owners, Driving Instructors, Driver Assessors, Road Traffic Managers, Road Safety Aministrators, Road Safety CSOs and NGOs, Road Safety Advocates and other Stakeholders in the Transportation and Road Safety Sectors in African Countries.
DSSAA is registered in the Gambia and UK with National offices in all the Capital cities in Africa.
DSSAA aims to bring all the critical Stakeholders together to build the capacity of Road Safety Professionals, Driving School Operators and support Road Safety in all African Countries through result – oriented Advocacy, Public Education, Lobbying, Fund Raising, Structured Training with Certification and allied activities.
DSSAA is a promoter of various Road Transport Safety initiatives and programmes among which are the African Institute of Driving Instructors and Road Safety professionals (ADRIP), Africa Road Transport Safety Exhibition (ARTSS EXPO), Africa Safe School Volunteer Project (ASSVP) and the Africa Road Safety Partnership and Research Board (ARSPARB) domiciled in our Overseas Office in Bournemouth United Kingdom.
Membership of Driving Schools and Safety Alliance Africa (DSSAA) is open to Road Safety Advocates all over the world.
DSSAA Initiatives and Causes include:
1. African Institute of Driving Instructors and Road Safety professionals (ADRIP) – This is an Academy for the training of Driving School Instructors and Road Safety Professionals.
2. Africa Road Transport Safety Summit and Exhibition (ARTSS EXPO) – This is the largest gathering of Researchers and Industry Leaders in Road Transport Safety featuring exhibitions of technology devices and Innovations in the areas of Transportation, Driving and Road Safety.
3. Africa Safe School Volunteer Project (ASSVP) – This is a Social Responsibility Project that Members of DSSAA will be directly involved in at various levels in the African Countries. These include volunteering to control traffic and help Children cross the Road during school hours, funding the installation of STOP Road signs and marking of zebra crossings at school Intersections, as well as carrying out the training of children on Road Safety practices in schools.
4. Africa Road Safety Partnerships and Research Board (ARSPARB) – This is a hub for the advancement of partnerships with Development Agencies, National Governments and Corporations as well as a Research Faculty for Road Safety Research Projects to boost data collection, policies and decisions on Transportation and Road Safety in African Countries.
It is worrisome that Africa that has about 4 per cent of the total vehicles in the world is the same Continent having the highest rate of Road Traffic Crashes, Injuries and Deaths in the world.
Driving Schools and Safety Alliance Africa (DSSAA) is determined to change this disheartening narrative by taking every necessary step to influence Government policies as well as implementing multi – sectoral programs and projects in the African Countries to significantly reduce the rate of Road Traffic Crashes, Injuries and Deaths.
